Home cook FULL meal is a happy meal

Ever since we bought Tiger Vacuum Pot in Dec 2013, we cooked more often.
1) Rice, fried egg, steam chicken, fried shallots, red bean soup dessert, enough for doggie bag too.

2) ABC soup with tomatoes, potatoes, onion carrot and pork rib. To make up the carbo intake, add some spaghetti. New cooking utensil tiger thermal pot bought in dec

3) old cucumber soup is easy to cook, too. Similar to ABC soup, put in old cucumber instead of potatoes & tomatoes. Other than soup, 1 new dish is added to our boring menu. Steam tofu topped with fried shallot & shrimps. Steam the tofu in the rice cooker while cooking the rice.

Bakuteh holy grail

I used to travel around The small island to look for good bakuteh. Since we moved in together, my wife started to cook bakuteh. With a wet market and you tiao store just around the corner, her bakuteh is actually not bad. I stopped going out for bakuteh because my wife's one is more tasty and economical. Ever since the you tiao store moved out and the closure of the wet market, we are back to square one. Besides the usual Founders, Ng Ah Sio and Ya Hua etc we found new choices.

探险精神再度被激发 To The Northeast

Last Sunday our spirit of adventrue was once again aroused. After church service, we drove all the way from town to Yishun. First stop was Lower Seletar Reservoir. A small fountain & water feature was newly built (June 2011) for the kids to play with, under the hot sun. How smart.

Next to the fountain is the lookout point link to a jetty-look-alike sitting area. The sitting area is partially covered & very windy. It has a broad view of golf club on one side and people kayaking on the other. This place is not bad but there is absolutely nothning to do. So we left after 15 minutes.

There is a price for every adveture outing, fuel. After topping up fuel at the nearest ESSO station, we contiue journey. On a unnamed bridge, we stopped to watch people fishing. There is also a kelong nearby. The feeling is like back to Malaysia, but a safer version. As we continue, we popped by Seletar Country Club and nearly hit a BMW. Surprisingly the bimmer driver was very polite & did not pursue us. Otherwise, we'll be dead meat. Made 2 rounds at the carpark and decided to leave. At a crossroad, a wrong turn brought us to Punggol. The road is just so empty without any road sign. So we ended up at Punggol Waterway, where a girl was attacked by 8 stray dogs last year. There is also a Punggol Watertown new development launching event. We are curious to find out the master plan around the area so we just walked in. To my astonishment, the place is packed! Agents & potential buyers everywhere. Food is provided, too. Without hesitation, we pretend to "checked out" the show room and then walked straight to the food counter. The chicken satay tasted the same if not better than Al-Azhar, his favourite satay in Singapore.

Filled our stomach & moved on to Punggol Park. This is another park with park connector, foot path, cycling track but no bench. So tired walking around the park.

Hubby said I don't have the cute 肥头 anymore...

We notice the people around are mainly foreigners. Where are all the Singaporean? Probably because there is no foodcourt here so Singaporean shun away from here. I wonder how appetizing it is to eat with presence of acid smell from palm oil production across the Johor Straits.

Let's Welcome 2012

Wife's friend invited us to East Coast Park for BBQ count down dinner. She booked a room at Goldkish Resort. Maybe can consider going there again. Met her family members for the first time. Found them fun & friendly.
9pm drove to Gardens by the Bay East. Plenty of parking space available. Spent 1.5 hours sitting in the park. By the time we left, the queue entering the park already built up. Next year need to come prepared. Must bring some snacks, KFC, drinks etc.
On 1 Jan, we started our new year in the house of God! Went to church had a nice sermon. On this special day, we also found the best (so far) Ipoh kuey teow soup & fried kuey teow at PappaMia.
After a short rest back home, we are going to RWS. AGAIN? This is the 4th time since Dec 2011.
Dinner place is a new found option, Chuck Wagon at Portsdown Road. Lamb rack was good. Probably because we haven't been eating lamb rack for a while. One North is becoming more on.

U Town Rocks!

Ever since we moved into Clementi, we have been witnessing the exciting development around this area. From ground breaking of SST (School of Science & Technology) to opening of Clementi Mall. From sale of DBSS (Design, Build & Sale Scheme) site to SERS (Selective En-bloc  Redevelopment Scheme) of old blocks at Clementi Ave 3. Now another attraction added to the already very crowded Clementi is finally open to public, THE UNIVERSITY TOWN!!
As usual, we can never wait to see a new cool place. So this weekend we invaded U Town from the link bridge between the main campus and U Town.

There are at least 10 buildings constructed for different purpose.

2 of them are Graduate Residence. Enhanced securirty features such as gate and gigantic louver actually make them look like a prison. How does it feel like studying (and living) in a prison? :p

The overall design is quite impressive. Thanks to their environment friendly initiative, many old giant trees were conserved.

But I not very sure why they torture the tiny young trees by striping seemingly heavy light features onto the tree trunk. Maybe that's a form of training. Gambatte young trees!

There are also many other things put in place to show off the advance of science & technology. Such as...

Not only U Town has brought happiness to Ung, who always enjoys seeing new stuff. It has also somehow triggered my brainwave.

2011 New Year Eve

How did I celebrate Year New Eve?
EAT!
We had half-day off on Year New Eve.
Lunch at NUS PepperLunch Express. Hiking at Rifle Range Road. Dinner had Ghim Moh Master Crab and ML prata for supper.
On new year day, we ate again.
Ren Ren prawn noodle for breakfast, then Popeye Chicken for lunch. It was not enough so ate Ya Kun kaya toast during tea time. Dinner was Fish Pot at Jalan Sultan.

Dinner at Singapore version of Nando's

First time at Barcelos. Food here is very much similar to Nando's in Malaysia. We had chicken, chicken & chicken.. Plenty of potatoes in different form... corn & coleslaw.

Destiny of my OPC

Next year onwards we can use our OPC on Saturday & Sunday whole day and eve of 5 public holidays. These 5 PH eve are New Year, Chinese New Year, Hari Raya Puasa, Deepavali and Christmas.
By then $20 paper supplementary license will not be required anymore. Go online and purchase will do. Our OPC will be on the road more often.

My Tall Boy is here

I collected my first car on 15 March '09. This car was registered on my 28th birthday. I can't wait to share my happiness being a proud car owner in a small island. So we ask our friends out for a joy ride the very night.
We made our decision to buy a car when the COE drop to $1000 and we go for a more affordable (and more evironmental friendly) off-peak car. In short, red-plate car.
The car plate looks like yellow when the camera flash. To show the true colour, we off the flash and retake the picture... Yeah! This is more like it :) What a nice number. Anyone buy the number & strike 4D, do buy us a meal, ok?

We like to share our joy with friends, and of course with food. Hehe.. This group of friends is our makan kaki. We had seafood at Seafood Paradise, Defu Lane 10.

Remember to turn right from Eunos Link only when you see a green sign "Defu Lane 1 to 10" on the left hand side. The junction after Defu Lane 12 & Defu Lane 11. They are not linked. Don't assume. Go slightly earlier to park inside the premise for FREE~~~~~

A drink bigger than my face

We celebrated my birthday in advance. Just the 3 single ladies (as of Feb '09). We had our dinner without any surprise. The surprise only comes with our last order, dessert. Breek's has revised their menu and the book is real big. Of course the pictures were big and we thought those are not proportionate. Until we see our order came...
The drink is called Massive Attack. Ice blended milo with chocolate ice cream and oreo cookie. It is bigger than my face. Not recommended for group less than 4 person.

When I don't smile, I look funny...

A group of us went out for dinner recently and took the following pictures. We tried the new japanese version of Marche at Raffles City. It's called Shokudo. The concept is exactly the same Marche. Food is so-so but the place is quite smoky. After dinner, we had ice cream at Ben & Jerry. I got my increment in Oct '08 so I bought ice cream :)
